The Baltimore Riots

RiotsThe country is well aware of the racial, political, and economic and law enforcement tension in Baltimore. Protest marches in solidarity with Baltimore are taking place in New York City, Washington, DC and Philadelphia. In light of this tension, CLT3 was retained by Dr. Anderson, pastor of the Bridgeway Community Church in Columbia, MD to provide secure travel to participate in a rally to promote restraint and non-violence in western Baltimore. The rally was held at pastor Jamal Bryant’s Empowerment Temple AME Church located located approximately three blocks from the Mondawmin Mall, the epicenter of the unrest.

CLT3 planned and coordinated transportation for Dr. Anderson along a carefully chosen route to Baltimore. As the motorcade approached Baltimore, police cars were observed in strategic locations along the route. Parking proved challenging as the building at capacity, with an overflow of attendees in the surrounding halls. Our logistical planning included alternatives if the motorcade happened to be leaving Baltimore after curfew. Fortunately that did not occur.

Security and risk assessment is a vital part of any logistical operation. Unfortunately many organizations tend to avoid, delay, or try to be their own security expert because they think it is too expensive or unnecessary. These attitudes are developed and reinforced due to lack of understanding of the true value of security professionals.

CLT3’s team of associates have more than three quarters of a century providing logistical advance work and security assessments for US Presidents, world leaders, corporate leaders and entertainers. Planning, pre-planning, and relying on relationships with law enforcement, public relation specialists, political entities, event planners, personal assistants etc., are the prerequisite steps to ensure everything goes smoothly.
